It’s just easier to use the tongs than have to endure the harassment from from 6ft+ son. Or hubby. BTW – did you know they make actual grabbers for this? They’re actually safer for things like cans ‘cuz they have rubber grippers. They are also much longer than kitchen tongs or BBQ tongs; like 3ft long!
I, too, am short. This is genius.
I’m over average and I still end up using tongs like that occasionally. Partly because I’m the shortest in the house…
Same. I always feel like one of those monkeys using a stick to get at a banana on a string.
Tongs = Cookies. Though I prefer home baking them. But still. See no problem in the reachies. My top cupboards are bare because I can’t reach…
The last thing I used tongs for was to retrieve a sock that had fallen behind the washing machine.
You are far from alone – in fact, I use all manner of household items to help me reach things. Better than carrying a step around all the time!
Everybody is awesome!
I also do this. Is this not common?
I didn’t think it was, but apparently it is!
I can easily relate.
My mother-in-law is 4ft11 (and shrinking) and uses the giant barbeque tongs to reach the bottom of the washing machine.
my aunt uses her for everything also … if fact we have 2 sets one to fetch stuff she can’t reach and one we actually use for bbq
In the land of the tongless the tall-man is king!

I need to start doing that.
