This concludes the series about Disney World. Back to normalcy starting Friday!
I did something like that once. Was out of dishwasher detergent and thought I could sub in dish soap instead. When I called her Mom talked me down from “I broke the dishwasher” panic, after she stopped laughing of course. I spent the evening mopping but fortunately no lasting damage.
If you run out of dishwasher detergent you can use 1/2 c of baking soda and TWO DROPS of dishwashing liquid.
Been there , done that. Hey at least you end up with a squeaky clean floor after the mop up.
Why is it that dishwashers, which involve large amounts of water, aren’t made non-leaking?
Dishwashers aren’t pressure-vessels. If water was pumped in and the air inside was trapped, then the door would burst open causing a flood every time they were used! In order to allow air out there is a small opening high up, hidden at the back. If the wrong detergent is used then as water is pumped in, froth floods out instead of air.
I know right??
A neat trick for softening burnt-on food: use lots of hot water and either salt, or better still washing soda. Dish soap works fine for fat, grease and dried protein, but isn’t so good at burnt food! Salt and soda have the advantage that they are dishwasher-friendly, indeed they help neutralise limescale which improves washing performance.
Soda also removes tannin from inside teapots, for those who still use them!
I don’t know why but I don’t get emails when you guys comment anymore! I fear I might’ve missed a lot of comments…
Perhaps they’re going into a spam folder for some reason?
They ARE (I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before). I’ll try to fix this.
I don’t think “macerate” is the right word; “Marinate” could fit better.
But “macerate” means “(especially with reference to food) soften or become softened by soaking in a liquid.” and that’s exactly what I meant.
Happy Valentine’s day Boum!
This made me laugh out loud, and not too many comics actually make me laugh out loud. xD Most might make me laugh internally. Seriously this is funny and something I would probably do.
Oh no, I did something like this too. I had a cup I used to hold the soap wand. One day I decided the cup was dirty — and I put it in the dishwasher. It had months of dish soap caked on it! Common sense was in short supply that day. Nothing quite like a carpet of bubbles escaping the kitchen to get your heart pounding.
