I finished school 30mumbldy years ago & had an ‘OMG I didn’t study’ dream a couple months ago. Along with zits, another thing “THEY” lied about getting past as you get older.
I was pretty good at school too, I won awards and scholarships, and yet… I think it’s from performance anxiety. I probably get these dreams when something about work is stressing me out.
SPOILER ALERT
It never stops.
I finished 35 years ago and still get those dreams. Kinda makes you wonder how traumatic school was to warp our brains so badly we have nightmares decades later…
True story: my freshman year in college (we won’t go into exactly when that was) one of my humanities courses got canceled at the last minute and I had to replace it. Went to registrar’s and found Philosophy 101 – Man and his will, that met on Tuesday evenings 5-7:30. Perfect. Signed up, started attending. The course’s sole text was a book written by the professor. Class had a lot of posers stroking non-existant beards and pondering the great ponders. The only one i remember from the professor was saying ‘the rose is red’ is repetitive because by calling it a rose, you imply it exists. Saying that it ‘is’ also implies that existence, and of course calling it ‘red’ means that it exists because if it didn’t then it couldn’t be red. oy.
Anyway, attended all the classes. Took all the exams. But oddly enough he never passed back the exams. Absolutely no clue how i was doing. Along comes 3rd week of November (semester ends in 2 weeks) and the prof starts the class with “so, on Thursday we were discussing…..”. Turns out the class met twice a week, not once. Stomach drop. Finished the course, took the final, for some reason got a C+.
I can do one better. We had a half semester class that started the SECOND half of semester in college. Literally no one noticed I wasn’t attending and had no idea until I failed.
I can say the actual reality (in not studying or forgetting to attend class ) is far less traumatic than the dreams…I still wake from dreams I’m in high school, and may fail (I did fine there) and will have to repeat a year…
OMG it’s so accurate. Also with the “I am about to graduate from university but need to go back to high school because I didn’t pass one course and will not graduate university otherwise.
Vivid dreams, two girls, and less than 6 degrees of separation? We are cosmic twins.
I finished school 200 years ago, My sons went bak to school last week and I had this dream as a result (always do whenever I’m stressed) but had the added joy of a meator shower bombarding the ampus while I tried to cram a terms knowledge before the exam start…

I can’t share that feeling. I was always the nerd. Love studying, love tests. Even when I wasn’t ready I wasn’t nervous.

Nooo!
Same dream type, but my version is that I didn’t finish my last semester. though I also have the “never attended class” version as well.

Love Boumeries. Will be sad when you retire it.
Enjoy life.
Oh my gosh what a nightmare
OMG.

Omfg
I have these dreams *and* I have the teacher version of them, too!

Same, but somehow it’s university for me (which was my favourite part of my schooling? Why, brain?)

oh my god the “I signed up for this class and didn’t attend it all semester” dream is so real.

gah! 20 I meant 20 – I’m am old but not THAT old!!!
I imagine this is common. Incredibly common. It shows up in way too many dreams of mine.
I was just telling my niece this happens. She was shocked and incredulous.
