Actually, baby wrapping is a super common thing do to everywhere in the world. Even in Japan. It IS safe and super comfortable for the baby. Its also very popular in the proximity parent style.

The way you have drawn, it looks as if she is faceplanting into your chest, so I kinda get why the cashier was worried.
