even milk has feelings
Milk is very precious to her.
Was “A va, lala?” hard to translate? (I assume that she was speaking French, not English, when it happened, but I guess the question applies either way.)
I’ve gotten used to translating my kids’ babbling! It probably sounds more natural in French most of the time, but I’m doing my best to convey the same kind of general feeling. “Lala” = “lait”, and we’re not sure why she doubles the syllable, so I figured the English equivalent would be “mimik”.
I thought that it was a specific name she had for milk, not a repetition. Maybe “mi-milk” would have worked better, I’m not sure.
I wanted to stay as close as possible to what she says in French, and considering she can’t quite say “lait” (she says lala), I decided she wouldn’t be able to say “milk”.
