When we moved into our new place, they were replacing the brickwork on the outside of the house so my kid can literally sleep through the sounds of falling rubble.
Based on personal experience, I suspect that’s a matter of the vacuum noise being painful and therefore good to sleep through so your conscious mind doesn’t have to deal with it.
The air conditioning in my house has a thing just outside my bedroom window that, when it’s running, makes a good imitation of a whole construction crew with power tools on. I rarely am able to fall asleep with it on, but I often find myself waking up a few hours later than I’d otherwise expect because of it. There also have been a few times when I’ve woken up and then illogical half-asleep me deliberately fell back to sleep instead of, say, moving away from the painful noise.
Exactly!
every single time
J’ai le même modèle en double a la maison … et ca fait suer :P

It’s like she filters what she hears so she knows exactly when to wake up. :0
