wait huh??? I always thought squat toilets were French! that’s what my parents told me and we used to encounter them on travels through france all the time when I was a kid °-°
Eons ago, before humanity walked the planet: the dinosaurs discovered these squat toilets, their scientists determined that they were left here by ancient aliens… BUT! Where did these aliens come from? Were they the creators of these toilets? Or perhaps these are the remnants of an even more ancient civilization that they brought with them? Who truly knows? *Dun-dun-duuuun!* THE END…??? *Roll credits*
I remember having to use squat toilets a bit during my time in China. They were fine, but I don’t think I could use them these days. My knees just would not take the strain, and I’d probably just fall backwards. Basically all my bathroom anxiety manifesting in one instant.
Found it really, really, really hard to potty train a 2 yr old over a squat toilet. Never figured out how someone that small was supposed to balance themselves standing over an opening that wide.
I dunno, in the rural places no one seemed to want to use the western toilets unless they had little kids (or were westerners with our group). Most of the stalls were squat toilets. This was Tokyo region, but at like rest stops on the highway a distance from the city.

My life has been a lie
They’re also called Turkish toilets so who knows where they actually come from

The aliens were pranking the dinosaurs.

Oh wow, I didn’t think about that!
The wide ones are quite new. A century at most.
