Plot
Okay, so I’m slightly kidding about the plotless part, but in all honesty I’m glad I finally finished this game (not just because it’ll be the last strip about it). Shallow characters, absent villains, useless sacrifices, random encounters every two steps, no clues as to what to do next whatsoever… not the most enticing RPG, that’s for sure. From what I’ve seen from Breath of Fire II so far, there’s a major improvement although it’s still too fast and far-fetched at times.
Still, going through Capcom’s first RPG had me doing fanart. Look, I can do colour sometimes!
You’re making me want to pick up this game, seriously. And I just might.
It’s not very good… graphics are cool though.
Breath of Fire IV for the PS1 is cool though, as far as JRPGs go it’s really worth the time. Lots of small bonus content like mini games and concept art too, not to mention great music :)
Yeah! I want to try it. It’s expensive though…
Breath of Fire II is easily the best in the series but the translation is notoriously bad. BOF III has a MUCH better translation and is quite a bit of fun. I didn’t care for IV as much but a lot of people like the change in art style. BOF V or “Dragon Quarter” is a VERY different kind of game. Saying more would spoil it. It’s not for everyone. VI is a mobile phone game that as far as I know was never translated. It is much loathed by fans of the series.
