Is the word “lovey” a french thing..? I figured it might be canadian but Google only gave me the definition for “lovey-dovey.” (From context I understand what it means, but I’ve never heard this word used before.)
It’s not a French thing, but it’s a word I’ve seen used in the context of a baby’s most-loved toy/blankie/etc. The kind of toy you don’t want to lose because your kid won’y sleep without it.
1. I totally wear my hair like that for work, no bangs though, I don’t look good with bangs.
2. That is adorable and thoughtful and you should be proud, I would be.
3. I totally read panel 3 with the Legend of Zelda “I got a thing!” sound effect. OMG I just realized that fits with the music itself. I’m such a nerd.
But “Lovey” was used in the “Gilligan’s Island” TV show in the 1950s-60s; the rich man used it to his wife. My sister had heard it elsewhere (also in the USA), because she said once that she didn’t like it until she saw it on that TV show in a funny scene.
Oh that’s just too much i AWWWWW’ed out loud to this one.

Its a term of endearment from British slang. its really not used very often in the US.

It might be regional. Around here (Chicago) all the preschool parents know that “lovey” = “child’s special soft toy.”
