How rude of them. Even if the hotel manager said it was their room, they do not have the right to force someone out of the room in te middle of the night!
The hotel gave two groups the same room number? Wow, what a mix-up!
I had a similar experience when travelling across state for a renaissance faire. When I arrived with my reservation (that I made a month in advance), they directed me to the 3rd floor where I proceeded to lug all of my stuff up there. When I got to my room, the key didn’t work and suddenly a woman opened the door surprised at my trying to get in. It turned out the receptionist did not recognize that the room was already taken, and tried to put me in that “vacant” room. It was a bit embarrassing, but I made sure it was more embarrassing for him that he made such a bungle. We ended up getting a nicer room. ^^
Kinda — actually, we HAD room 104, but somehow our keycards were assigned to room 109, which already belonged to an elderly couple. The receptionist even wrote “109” in the cardboard keycard holder, so how could we have known this room was already taken?
Pierre-Luc was kinda tipsy from an evening out with the festival people — I don’t drink because I’m pregnant, so I was fine! He didn’t get out of bed at all, he was too out of it, haha
Haha! Ce fût un plaisir de te voir à Sherbrooke. J’apprends à te connaitre, mais je regrette de ne pas avoir acheté tes livres. Ces comics me font bien rire :)
I had this issue last April when I visited Montana for a week. I had booked my rooms ahead of the trip, so they were guaranteed to be reserved. I get to the first room late Monday night, I drop everything down and begin to relax, and all of a sudden there’s a loud commotion at the door!
There was elderly Asian couple attempting to enter my room, and apparently the key worked, because if I hadn’t locked the chain they would’ve been Right in! They spoke very little English (but they were lovely people) and the front desk took care of it no problem xD
Oh. My. God. The woman looks like a South Park style Canadian. No offence.

They wanted to force us out but we ended up staying there, and they had room 104 instead.

Merci ben! On aura l’occasion de se reprendre!
My mum’s worked in hotels and care homes and has had to deal with this countless times… including a small family being confronted by a metal band.
