I NEVER NOTICED THE DOT! I read this comic and I was like “W…wait a minute…. really???” and went back and the DOT WAS ALWAYS THERE AND I NEVER NOTICED! D:

I never noticed it either.
And I also didn’t know that emoji was supposed to be ‘surprised.’ It always looked a bit more ‘dumbfounded.’ or ‘speechless.’ to me.
Try as I might, I can never not see the dot as a tiny mouth whenever a mouth is not drawn, but it works as a neutral expression.
Same. Even now that I know what it is, my brain just keeps translating it to a mouth.
I was so surprised the first time Boum’s mouth opened, but by then I’d read about twenty strips and there was nothing to be done.
Wow… I can’t believe I didn’t notice O_o.
This has confused me too :P
I thought it was a nose piercing…
